Dershowitz: Obama 'Committing a Crime' with Iran Deal - Mark Langfan, A7 UN Reporter

by Mark Langfan

Obama 'tricked' Republicans into supporting the Corker Amendment, which guaranteed Iran deal, says law professor.

During a blistering attack on Iranian president Hassan Rouhani and President Barack Obama’s Iran deal, Prof. Alan Dershowitz made the stunning accusation that Obama “realizes that what the United States is doing [with the Iran deal] today amounts essentially to a crime.”

“What is that crime? That crime is providing material support to terrorism. And, what does this deal do? It provides tens of billions, perhaps hundreds of billions of dollars of material support for terrorism,” he intoned, at a demonstration by Iranian opponents of the Rouhani regime, held outside UN Headquarters in New York Monday .

In an later exclusive interview with Arutz Sheva, Dershowitz also stated he believed that the Republicans were “tricked” by President Obama into passing the Corker Iran Nuclear Review Amendment which, while framed as a bipartisan compromise, guaranteed in effect that the Iran deal would be approved.

We asked specifically if the Republicans are not as complicit as Obama in passing the Iranian deal, because it was the Corker Amendment made it possible for Obama to get the deal through Congress despite the majority's objection.

Prof. Dershowitz agreed: “I think it was a terrible mistake that the Corker Amendment was passed. I think the Republicans were tricked into doing it. I don’t think they thought through the implications of how this would allow the President to get the deal through with a majority against it, both the House and the Senate, and a majority against them among the American people. The big victims, though, are the American people, the people of Israel, the people of the Middle East, and people in the world who want to see Iran without a nuclear weapon.”

Prof. Dershowitz opened by stating he was speaking out “for the wonderful people of Iran who are oppressed by terrible leaders of Iran.” He added that “the UN has become a podium and a lectern for the most oppressive and the most reactionary forces” in the world.

Today, Dershowitz explained, “Rouhani is the propaganda President of Iran... Because he the smiling face of a puppet of the tyrannical leadership of the Ayatollah Khamenei.”

Earlier in the speech, focusing on Rouhani, Dershowitz informed the thronging crowd that Rouhani “has presided over the brutal execution of more innocent people than even what [the previous president, Mahmoud] Ahmedinjihad presided over. But, at least Ahmedinjihad was totally honest. Ahmedinjihad presented himself as a bigot, as a Holocaust denier, as a defender of repression, as a hater of the United States, as a hater of all things decent. He was replaced by a smiling face, a propaganda expert who actually presents a moderate image to the world, but it’s a false moderate image.”

Dershowitz then rhetorically wished he could summon all the witnesses to the barbarity, falsehood and lies of Rouhani’s face “smiling face.” He asked for “the hundreds of thousands of people who have been murdered in cold blood by this regime in the name of its reactionary and repressive philosophy; the wonderful Iranian homosexuals who were hanged to death for being homosexuals; the Bahias that were murdered, the Muslims, the Christians, the Jews, who were murdered by this regime.” But, unfortunately, Dershowitz stated, “The one thing the Rouhani / Ahmedinjihad / Khamenei / Khomeini regime specializes in is killing off witnesses. The last thing this regime wants is truth.”

Then Dershowitz attacked the Obama-Iran nuclear deal on the grounds that he explained in his latest book, “The Case Against the Iran Deal.”

Critically, he added that the deal would enable “Hundreds of billions of dollars to Iran to enable them to increase their repression everywhere in the world, most especially in Iran, but also the power to export terror to Lebanon and Syria in support for the terrorist leader Assad, to Yemen, to Iraq.”

I'm sure Professor Dershowitz and others like him mean well. But really !

"I'm speaking out for the wonderful people of Iran who are oppressed by terrible leaders....etc"
And all that name calling: e.g. "Obama is committing a crime..." "The u.n. has become a podium & a lectern for the most oppressive...." etc. And the titles of his books.. "The Case for Israel"... "The case against the Iran Deal".
It was not so long ago that Professor Dershowitz was cavorting in Seventh Heaven about the electoral victories of Obama and what a landmark event it was. Or not so many years ago, he was in full blossom with his hair-splitting pedantic, legalistic mummery about the niceties of the Israel-"palestinian" conflict & his ambivalent, moral equivalence -riddled criticism of Israel and her front-line leaders. e.g. Ariel Sharon etc. Was he yearning for some kind of camaradie with the likes of Thomas Friedman, J. Street, and all those Tonies, Jeremies, Peters & Ricks ?
And what parallel universe was Dershowitz floating in when he seemed to accept the claim that the pronouncements of the u.n.'s most toxic agencies are the gold-standard of international law ? Really Prof. Dershowitz. Is your judgement of the real world of conflict & power, systemically doomed to the title of "Last cowboy to discover horses" ?
You're out of your league. Have you ever considered that even the witch doctors who govern Iran are not so bad at all by the standards of the Muslim orient. And that most of those "wonderful people" who inhabit the Muslim universe may not mind them all that much. Indeed, much of what M. Dershowitz thinks is "barbaric, falsehood, murderous" is just "doin' a what comes naturally" in the sad-masochistic culture that the very contents of Islam reproduces everywhere there are Muslims.

One of the more interesting comparisons of recent years are the track records of Alan Dershowitz, John "Kerry" and Thomas Friedman: Although Dershowitz seems to have snapped out of his peculiar brand of legalistic, faculty-room moral equivalence on the subject of Israel vs. "palestinians"...at least verbally.
The other two individuals continue to wallow in the effluent of well greased deceit, selective amnesia and moral equivalence.
The most egregious being John, so-called "Kerry". He seems to think that no one remembers his years of diplomatic & political conscupience with the Assad clan's President Bashir, fils de Hafez.
Tssk, tssk. All those photo ops together, family dinner parties, shopping excursions, tete a tetes. And now ? It's as if none of it ever happened. Maybe he needs reminding.

And then there's noted New York Times scribe Thomas Friedman. Whose asinine classic of moral equivalence, FROM BEIRUT TO JERUSALEM. {1987} had all those lib-left limousine liberals mincing away from Manhattan to Mayfair and points north and south. Seems that
smarmy Tom's analytic 'genius' put noted Egyptian paedopile, Yasir Arafat and Israel's Ariel Sharon into the same batter of Halvah. Even the denizens of the Muslim orient's daintiest power circles haven't stopped laughing since then.
M. Dershowitz ? Do you still know those folks ?

July 13, 2016,

If Mr. Dershowitz and his comfortably legalistic, faculty-lounge - lizard-colleagues,would sincerely like to redeem themselves from what has been a persistently checkered track record, over decades, let them consider the following program of risk-laden,action oriented self rehabilitation:
{1}Prosecute & bring to trial in an honourable court,{guess whom that excludes?}key united nations officials, past and present{e.g. "human rights" Kommisars, unesco, their hyper-corrupt "refugee" agencies}for aiding and abetting genocide; And living off the avails of every known form of larceny, perjury and criminal conspiracy.
{2}As an initial learning experience why not bring to trial in an honourable court, the execrable Noam Chomsky, whose utterances and actions following the great {& typically Marxist} genocide in Cambodia, put him irredeemably in the same company as certain other heinous figures, who would have found M.Chomsky's existence quite unendurable, because of his own heritage.
{3} Last we heard,it is considered quite unacceptable, even reprehensible,to threaten other groups with genocide; Let alone do it persistently as second nature, & as overt state policy & as sincere expressions of religious conviction: Especially when their targets of opportunity are completely defenceless and completely devoid of any hope of meaningful assistance.
We could go on and on, especially when identifying the culprits who proudly engage in such practices as human slavery, judicial and ad hoc crucifixion, F.G.M, as trademarks of their faith. Plus other practices we would not mention in even the most "worldly" company.

Are you{plural}folks willing and able to redeem yourselves? Didn't think so. After all,you {plural} know who and what you really are, where you can be found, and who pays your bills.

We're still waiting guys. Would you like simple beginners' rules of engagement to tell you {plural} exactly how to do it ? And how not to waste your time and sedentary energies on what you're doing now?
Just ask us. It's easier than you {plural} think. And our enemies are far more vulnerable to direct action than you'll ever understand. Learn how to take instruction: Instead of frittering your lives away on scribbling, texting, talking, dialoguing, conferencing, pleading, pandering, & polemical exchanges in faculty lounges and debating forums.
Ask us for direct instructions on how & against whom to act directly.

Recently, Prof. Dershowitz has emerged as a "defender" of President Trump...Whatever that is supposed to mean. He even has a kind of endorsement from David Horowitz, who, perhaps, should know better, considering his own scars at the hands of those for whom Prof. Dershowitz had no particular objection to over so many years. Indeed, he supported the worst of them almost without any common sense or sound political judgment. Once again he has sustained his reputation as the "last cowboy to discover horses". But a lingering suspicion exists among many people who might be described as Prof. Dershowitz's "peers" that his "shock of recognition" owes more to an unrecorded promise that his years of uncritical devotion to the Obama/Clinton/DNC gang,& the sanctimonious lib left, was about to be rewarded by an appointment to the Supreme Court. In our worst nightmares we cannot imagine what the Obama Clinton, DNC gang would have done to the composition of the Supreme Court, if they had won the 2016 election. But We can be sure that it would not have included Prof. Alan Dershowitz. GOOGLE: Norman L. Roth

Please read all of the above. Especially you "fellows" ?? in the Gatestone Institute. And those who still cannot shake-off their deeply ingrained addiction to the "emeritus" & "distinction" that Mr. Dershowitz's Ivy League faculty culture has settled on him like a smokescreen. Whatever his virtues & legal problems over false accusations of inappropriate behavior, he seems to nothing & forgotten everything about his well earned reputation for being "the last cowboy to discover horses". Why on earth did he stick to his addiction to the Democratic party's slide into the abyss ? Long after who & what they are became obvious ? And why did he continue to howl like a junk academic cultural Marxist against President Trump even after he had won the presidency ? And what does M. Dershowitz continue find so irresistable about Barak Hussein Obama, the Clinton Foundation & the Chicago dhimmis to the very end ? Until he has made some kind of confession about his appalling lack of judgment & common sense over so many years,Prof. Dershowitz is simply impossible to take seriously. I'm sure he's a nice man. But an icon to be admired ? Really ! In some ways, he's more to be pitied than pilloried. Please GOOGLE: {1} Norman L. Roth {2} Norman L. Roth, Technological Time
