MSM Covering for Obama's Syria Disaster

by Thomas Lifson

It's desperation time for MSMers committed to President Obama. That's the only explanation for some of the credibility-sacrificing moves made by a couple of prominent members of the MSM, attempting to downplay Obama's foreign policy disaster. I wonder if they realize that we're taking names, and as the awful truth sinks in, we're going to hold them accountable with ridicule, shaming, and all the other tools of norm-building the left has so relentlessly employed.
Of course, the first offender, TIME Magazine, may not be around that long. But that didn't stop it from essentially whoring itself by publishing one cover for the rest of the world and another for an American readership the editors obviously regard as low information voters.

Here is the real cover seen in the Europe/Middle East/Africa edition, the Asia edition, and the South Pacific edition:

And here is the cover seen in the American edition:

At a more personal level, Candy Crowley of CNN continued her practice of shilling for Obama (as seen in her presidential debate moderation) on Sunday. The Washington Free Beacon has video and a summary:

CNN's State of the Union host Candy Crowley asked Rep. Mike Rogers (R., Mich.) if the U.S. really cared whether Russia had the diplomatic edge in the deal over Syrian chemical weapons, which provides a framework for the destruction or removal of them over the next year. (snip)
[Rogers:] This is a Russian plan for Russian interests."
Crowley interrupted there.
"Who cares? If it has a chance to get rid of chemical weapons, do we really care that Russia got the diplomatic edge?" she asked.

The Crowley Doctrine was articulated decades ago in the phrase, "What, me worry?" It's Mad Magazine time at CNN when Crowley is on.

Update: Richard Baehr observes that the appointment of TIME magazine managing editor Rick Stengel as Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs look awfully bad when juxtaposed to this shocking behavior. Stengel is the 21st journalist to ho to work for the Obama admininstration.
